Saying goodbye to Romania

Well, it was fun while it lasted. It's a shame that we didn't use the blog much after all, but hey, if we didn't had time to post things here, that's a good sign, right?

In this time living together in a foreign country I learned a lot, and experienced what I consider the first steps to live on my own. I will miss have Sara at the reach of my hand whenever I feel like petting her, and I will miss us sleeping together in the same bed, and the allnighters together at the computer, but in other hand, what I will NOT miss is to clean up the dishes after lunch/dinner. Let me tell you: feels so good to have a washing machine at home...

We also met several people that we can call friends and saw landscapes and views that we would only dream of, and, most importantly, we got to see SNOW! We made lots of videos and took lots of pictures too, though a big part of both were taken in the last weekend, when we went to Brasov, a city in the mountains. Eventually I'll post the videos here. The pictures... Not so sure, that I'm going to put them all, but I'm certain that I will find time to post a few of them.

So now... It's 9:00 am in Târgoviste and Sara is fast asleep. I stayed up all night, trying to distract myself. Well, when we came to Romania, Sara had done an allnighter, so I guess it's only fair that this time be my turn. We have almost everything packed, and I say "almost" because there are some last hour packaging to do, including the computer, so my backpack is still open. Food and discardable stuff that we will leave behind will go to the new 4 portuguese students that came this semester. We haven't met them, but we are going with a boy from the administration to see if they are here at 10:00 am, 50 minutes from now. If they are not, we leave the things with the boy and he will give them in our behalf.

Finnaly, at 12:00 will be here a transport to take us to the airport in order to catch the flight at 15:50. There have been reports of bad weather in Europe, but the flight stays in schedule so we hope for the best. If all goes well, we arrive at 20:oo, adding to that 1:30 hour travel to my town plus the chaos that will be at the airport... If I'm home at 22:30 I will consider myself lucky. Even so because we have classes on the next day... Maybe doing an allnighter was not such a good idea afterall, since I going to drive tomorrow...

Anyway, I will treasure the memories I take from here. It was a good experience for me, and I think I've matured, even if just a little. Can't wait to get home, though.

Hello, and happy New Year.

Well we are back for good now, I guess, but yet another obstacle crosses our path: we will not have internet from 18th to 25th of January. This sucks, mostly because we now have works to deliver close to that very same date.

Anyway, this post is not about that, is about videos! We finnaly have some videos to share with you, so, here they are.

Yesterday we went to see the place where we are going to move. And suddently... it doesn't look too bad! The place is huge, and almost seems an hotel! Seriously! If the place had internet, we were so definatly not coming back! But anyway, it still stinks that we can't talk to anyone in Christmas and the location of the hostel, since is outside of town and far away from everything.

Since we can't talk to anyone in Portugal, I sincerely hope that at least I can spend Christmas in the same room as Sara...

Well, anyway, see you in two weeks... Next year...

Moving...

This is just great... On day 21 of December we will have to move to another hostel for 2 whole weeks, since this one is going to close for holidays. I was expecting everything, but have to move on the Christmas. Seriously, this is really bad. Because there's few people here, the administration thinks it's not worth to pay for a guard in the holidays, so we all have to move to another hostel outside Târgoviste (the city where we are), where probably we won't have internet.

This means: I can't work, I can't talk to my family on Christmas and New Year and I can't do anything, and I even still have to go to somewhere I don't know and don't have a clue about the conditions. For two weeks. This Christmas is going to be great...

Snow

We are sorry we haven't updated this as much as we would like to, but from now on, we will post things from time to time.

For starters, last Saturday we had snow! I've touched and felt snow on my hands and hair for the first time. My mental age easily dropped about 10 years, and I had a small snowball fight with Sara. We also took some pictures that I later uploaded on my facebook. I'll leave some of them here, but if you want to see more just go ahead and add me on Facebook. I'll be happy to accept ;)

Finnaly we have internet!

We found out today that finnaly we have internet on the dorms! This are big news!! The flood of pics and videos is going to start!

Still with no internet

And we still don't have internet. We should have internet since 1st October. October is almost passing by and we still don't have internet on the dorms. We have to come to cybercafes to answer our e-mails and talk to the family. This sucks.

Other than that, last saturday we went to an Otaku event, named Nijikon. Since things are so damn cheap here in Romania, I enjoyed the oportunity to buy lots of manga. A report about the event soon to come on portuguese and english in my workblog.

Finnaly, we have been invited to a Halloween party, but we probably won't go, since we have to get a costume, and we don't have time for that.

Well, we'll try to keep posting stuff, so check this out now and then.

In case anyone is wondering why we haven't post anything since our arrival, it's just because we currently don't have internet on the dorms, yet. Supposedly, we were to have net on the October 1st, but by some unknown reason we still don't have. Its a shame because we have all sorts of things to post, from texts to pictures or even video.

Oh well, maybe it wont take much more.

The day is coming

OMG OMG. It's hard to believe, but 6 hours from now, I'll be on my way to Lisbon, and to the airport. It's going to be a long day, though I hope it will reward us with excitement: a new age in my life is coming.I really hope it will be an memorable trip!

Next time we writte, we will be in Romania.

It only left two days to get the plane... Oooh, I'm really scared with it, it's the first time I fly and I'm getting really nervous. Today we signed the Erasmus contracts, so everything is going on. Pop has called a little concerned about the price of our room; he read some Erasmus guide for foreign students in Romania that the residence prices were close to 150€. Ohemegee, I think it is too much and it's one more concerning to me. I'm sooo nervous.
Oh, and I bought a really nice jacket in lamb fur, it's so warm that I'm sure I'm not going to feel cold with it on! Good for the snow, too.
I need to pack some more stuff. Baah, tired of it, but it's a necessary evil!

Introduction (Still in Portugal)

Hello world! Here we are... in this sunny day... reading this text... But hey, since we are here, I might as well tell you what this thing is about.

You are now reading the blog of two portuguese persons that happen to be in the same school and taking the same classes. Not only that, they happen to be in love with each other and, coincidence of all coincidences, they happen to go in ERASMUS together. Yeah, that's right; trough many troubles and obstacles, they managed to study abroad for 4 months, and TOGETHER. What are the odds, huh?

Anyway, the two students are myself (Renato) and my astonishingly sexy girlfriend, Sara. From now on, we will relate everything in our experience - ocasional podcasts included - in this humble blog, for our friends, and for anyone that shows interest in it. It could also be a guide to those who are thinking of studying abroad.

For now, what's left to say? We already have almost everything done here in Portugal. Tomorrow I'll go buy the tickets and pack my bags - hopefully not forgetting anything - this weekend because next monday, 28 of September, it's time to roll, baby!
